BRAND IDENTITY — WASHINGTON, DC

Brand Identity Design in Washington DC

I build brand identities that hold up — across your website, your proposals, your conference presence. For DC businesses that need to look serious, not just polished.

WHAT YOU GET

What brand identity includes

Every brand identity engagement produces a complete, production-ready visual system — not a logo dropped in a PDF. Here's what you walk away with.

Logo system

Primary mark, secondary mark, icon/favicon version, and horizontal lockup. Delivered in SVG, PNG, and PDF at full resolution.

Color palette

Primary and secondary colors with defined usage rules. HEX, RGB, and CMYK values. Accessibility contrast ratios documented.

Typography system

Display font, body font, and scale — with usage guidance for digital and print. Google Fonts or licensed typefaces as appropriate.

Brand usage guide

A single-page PDF brand guide covering logo dos and don'ts, color use, type hierarchy, and spacing rules. Usable by any designer or vendor.

Icon set (Studio and Scale)

A cohesive set of 10–20 custom icons in your brand style. Used throughout the website and in presentation materials.

Brand voice guidelines (Scale)

Tone of voice, messaging hierarchy, and sample copy in brand voice. The strategic layer that makes visual identity meaningful.

PROCESS

How brand identity works

01

Discovery

A focused 60-minute call covering your positioning, your audience, your competitors, and what you want the brand to communicate. I send a brand questionnaire before the call.

02

Concepts

I present two to three logo directions in context — on a website mockup, a business card, and a social profile. Not isolated marks on a white background. You see the brand in use.

03

Refinement & delivery

Two rounds of revisions on the chosen direction. Final delivery includes all file formats, color values, font files or licenses, and the brand guide PDF.

PRICING

Brand identity investment

Brand identity engagements are scoped on a project basis after a free 30-minute discovery call. Most standalone brand identity projects fall between $2,500 and $6,000 depending on scope and deliverables. Combined brand + website packages are available at a bundled rate.

If you need a website to go with the brand, see the web design pricing for bundled rates.

FAQ

Branding questions

What's the difference between a logo and a brand identity?

A logo is a mark. A brand identity is the full system — logo, color palette, typography, icon set, photography style, and usage guidelines. A logo alone won't hold up across a website, proposal deck, and LinkedIn profile. A brand identity system does. I build identity systems, not just marks.

Do I need a brand identity before building a website?

Ideally, yes. A website built without a defined brand identity ends up looking like it was assembled from parts. That said, I can scope both as a combined engagement — brand identity first, then the website — which is the most efficient path and how most of my DC clients approach it.

How long does brand identity design take?

A focused brand identity engagement (logo, color, type, usage guide) takes 2–3 weeks from kickoff. If you're adding a full brand strategy phase — positioning, naming, messaging — expect 4–6 weeks. I work fast because I run a tight, focused process. No endless rounds of concepts. Two rounds of revisions are included; clear direction at kickoff is what makes that work.
